FIRST LEGO League introduces science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) to children through fun, exciting hands-on learning. In FIRST LEGO League, students engage in hands-on STEM experiences, building confidence, growing their knowledge and developing habits of learning. FIRST LEGO League inspires youth to experiment and grow their critical thinking, coding and design skills through hands-on STEM learning and robotics.
FIRST LEGO League Explore – Grades 2-4: (previously called FIRST LEGO League Junior)
In Explore, teams of students ages 6-10 focus on the fundamentals of engineering as they explore real-world problems, learn to design and code and create unique solutions made with LEGO bricks and powered by a LEGO Education robot. FIRST LEGO League Explore is designed to introduce STEM concepts to kids while exciting them through a brand they know and love − LEGO®. Guided by adult coaches and FIRST® Core Values, students build models made with LEGO® bricks and powered by LEGO Spike Essential. They also create Show Me posters to present what they learned.
It’s never too early to discover STEM!

Louisiana FIRST LEGO League Explore Festival
The culminating event for the FIRST LEGO League Explore experience is a Festival! While it is not required for teams to participate, a Festival is a fun, non-competitive, way for teams to show off all the hard work they have done in the season, connect with other teams, be inspired, be challenged, and most of all be CELEBRATED! Throughout the morning at the Louisiana State Festival, the teams present their project to reviewers, participate in activities with other teams, and receive an award at the closing High Five Award Ceremony.
Information for the 2024-25 season State Festival will be posted when details are finalized. It is anticipated to take place in March 2025.
