Championship Robot Match Video Submission

Teams are required to provide 3 Robot Game Videos by
5pm on Thursday, January 20th.

Please refer to the instructions below provided by FIRST for producing your videos.

  1. Robot Game Video Recording Tutorialon YouTube
  2. robot-game-video-recording-doc_UpdateFeb2021

To share your videos, please upload them to the platform of your choice and provide links to your videos by completing the online form below.

Any platform where you can post your videos and make them accessible to the referees is good. A shared school Google folder works, but an easy alternative is to upload your videos to YouTube using a designation of RESTRICTED (instructions provided here – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VtF2AgFSLAw&feature=emb_logo). Making it restricted means that the only way someone can find your video is if they have the link. It is not searchable, so it is not public.

Questions may be addressed to Annette Oertling, co-FLL Partner.

FLL and FTC Demonstrations at the Bayou Regional

FIRST LEGO League (FLL) and FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) Teams are invited to provide a demonstration at the 2020 FIRST Robotics Competition Bayou Regional on Friday and Saturday, March 27 & 28, at the Pontchartrain Center in Kenner LA.  There will be a FIRST LEGO League and FIRST Tech Challenge display, and we are looking for teams to sign up for 1-2 hour time slots on Friday between 10am-6pm and Saturday between 10am-1pm to demonstrate their robot and talk to visitors about their experience in FIRST. You would need to bring only your robot, as FLL and FTC fields will be provided.  FLL teams may also bring project and core values materials to show.

While at the Bayou Regional, FIRST LEGO League and FIRST Tech Challenge teams are invited to visit the “pits” where team members work on their 120 lb robots, and enjoy the matches on the field where alliances of 3 teams compete against each other in the INFINITE RECHARGESM game focused on supporting boundless innovation and creating a society that’s empowered, inspired, and hopeful.  Stay for the very exciting final rounds on Saturday afternoon.  60 teams are expected in the competition, including teams from Mexico and Turkey! It is a great opportunity to see where FIRST can take you.

If your team would like to provide a 1-2 hr demo, please complete the information below. If your team is just visiting, there is no need to register, as the event is free and open to the public. And if you decide to join us, PLEASE WEAR CLOSED TOE SHOES, which is the only way a person can go into the robot pits. Hope to see you at the Bayou Regional!

Louisiana FIRST LEGO League Explore State Festival Registration

The culminating event for the FIRST LEGO League Explore. experience is a Festival!  While it is not required for teams to participate, a Festival is a fun, non-competitive, way for teams to show off all the hard work they have done in the season, connect with other teams, be inspired, be challenged, and most of all be CELEBRATED!   Throughout the morning at the Louisiana State Festival, the teams present their project to reviewers, participate in activities with other teams, and receive an award at the closing High Five Award Ceremony.

At this time, we are still planning to have an in person Festival, but if needed, may have to be shifted to virtual.  This decision will be made as close to the event date as possible.  Due to safety concerns with COVID, attendees at the event will be limited to team members (2-6 per team) and the team coaches (2 per team).  We will not be able to accommodate any spectators at this year’s festival.

The Louisiana State FIRST® LEGO® League Explore Festival for the Cargo Connect Season will be held on:  Saturday, March 19, 2022 at Hammond High School

Check-in will begin at 8:00am

Festival event 9:00am -12:45pm

Registration fee is $10 per team (unlike years past, please hold on to your fee and bring it with you the day of the event.  If we have to switch to a virtual festival, we will not collect the registration fee).

We will be serving pizza and drinks before the high-five ceremony.

Registration, will close on Friday, March 4, 2022

Teams must be nationally registered & fees paid with FIRST prior to registering for the Festival.

ALL students AND coaches MUST be listed on the team roster and have the consent form completed online.  A print out of the team roster showing all names and that all forms have been completed will be required at check in on the day of the festival.

***NO PAPER CONSENT FORMS WILL BE AVAILABLE***

  • Please complete the registration below to register your team. DO NOT use the link on your national team dashboard.  If you register on the national website, we will not see it!
  • If you will be using a check for the registration fee, please make it out to FIRST Louisiana-Mississippi, Inc.

We are looking forward to celebrating with you and your team all that has been learned about the world of transportation during the FIRST® LEGO® League Explore CARGO CONNECT season!

2024 Louisiana FIRST LEGO League Team Hardship Grant Application

HARDSHIP GRANTS ARE AVAILABLE to aid teams that would otherwise be unable to participate in FIRST LEGO League without some assistance. If you are interested in applying for a Hardship Grant for your FIRST LEGO League CHALLENGE (ages 9-14) or EXPLORE (ages 6-10) team, please complete this application. For CHALLENGE teams, the grant will pay for a maximum of 2 of the 3 registration items (robot, registration, field set). For EXPLORE teams, 1 or both items may be chosen. The most important consideration in the grant application is your explanation of the hardship. If available, it can be very helpful to include information on your school’s statistics for free and reduced lunch, but it does not necessarily eliminate your application if you don’t have it.

The DEADLINE to be considered for the first round of these Hardship Grants is Wednesday, May 8th. The 1st round of funding is provided by LA STEM Region 1 for teams in Orleans, Jefferson, Plaquemines, St. Bernard, St. Charles, St. James, and St. John Parishes. Applications from teams in all parishes in LA will be considered in the 2nd round, which has a DEADLINE of June 30th. All unfunded applications submitted in the first round will be automatically considered in the 2nd round.

ALL of the items below must be filled out to be eligible. For the 1st round of grants, if you are a new team and do not have a team number, please just enter 00000, as this year’s national registration does not open until mid-May.  For our second round of grants, if you are a new team, creating a team profile in the registration system at http://www.firstinspires.org will generate a temporary team number. To begin, create an account (user name and password), and it will take you to your “dashboard”, where you can create a team. DO NOT PAY FOR YOUR REGISTRATION OR MATERIALS IF YOU ARE REQUESTING THE GRANT TO COVER THOSE EXPENSES!!! The grant cannot reimburse already paid expenses.

Questions regarding the hardship grants or this form may be addressed to the LA FIRST LEGO League Challenge Partners: Dr. Michelle Sanchez or Dr. Annette Oertling.

2019 Bayou Regional Breakfast Reservation Form

Please let us know if you plan to join us for breakfast, as it will be provided at the hotel next door and reservations are required. The Bayou Regional meal policy is that full-day volunteers are provided with breakfast and lunch with a snack mid-morning and afternoon. Part-time volunteers (1/2 day) will be provided with one meal and snack, so someone who works the morning shift can choose either breakfast OR lunch. When you check in at the volunteer table each day, you will be given the appropriate wrist bands (or tickets for part time volunteers) for access to breakfast at the hotel next door and/or lunch at the Bayou Regional Volunteer Lounge. Judges will be eating in a separate location to facilitate deliberation (no wrist bands necessary!).
